fall to Pickett County 46-27

The Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs traveled to Byrdstown Friday, Feb. 20 to take on the Pickett County Bobcats looking to seal the 1st place spot in their district.

The Bulldogs found the road trip bumpy as they came home defeated 27-46 and fell in the district standings 6-3.

Pickett County took an early lead with the first score of the game. RBS drives and finds the bucket to put points on the board for the Bulldogs. With both teams playing an aggressive game, and 3:20 left in the first, the score was tied 4-4. Daniel Meador shoots for two, draws a foul and goes to the charity stripe for the Bulldogs. Meador fails to convert on the foul shot but forces the Bobcats to set up and make the last shot for the quarter. At the end of the quarter the Bulldogs are down by two, Bobcats 10- Bulldogs 8.

Marcus Hudson opens the second going to the foul line to convert two out of three to tie the game 10-10. Hudson then drives inside to lay the ball up for two. After sending the Bobcats to the charity stripe and watching them take the lead, Jay Mason shoots and finds the bottom, followed by a basket by Meador, Bulldogs lead 16-15. The Bobcats find their own goal and steal the lead ending the half up by one, RBS 18 - Pickett Co. 19.

The third quarter found the Bobcats beginning to pad their lead wanting the district win over the Bulldogs. They outscored the visiting RBS team 13-6.

With nine team fouls for both teams, the final eight minutes found the ball at the charity stripe. However, the Bulldogs only found the net for a total of three points in the fourth quarter while the Bobcats hung on to take the win, defeating the Bulldogs 46-27.

Scoring: Daniel Meador scored his 1,000 point giving him a total of 1006 points for the season, 12 game points; Jay Mason 3; Marcus Hudson 11; Dexter White 1.
