Funeral services for Walter G. Smith, age 74, of Hermitage Springs Community of Clay County, TN, were conducted Sunday afternoon, Feb. 8, 2004, 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs with Elder Floyd Ferguson officiating. Pallbearers were Ed Pharris, Kevin Pharris, Carlos Spivey, Jimmy Thompson, Paul Biles, and Mickey Clements. Interment followed in Henson Cemetery.

Walter G. Smith passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 5, 2004 at the St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.

A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Jack and Sally Green Smith. He was married to the former Jean Green on June 30, 1984, who survives. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Pete & Durell Smith. He was a farmer.

Survivors besides his wife include a step-daughter, Betty Black, Cookeville; step-son, Bobby (Renita) Spivey, Hermitage Springs; sister, Dorothy Vinson, Carthage; five step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
