Man arrested for stolen checks

James Myers, age 37, of Cookeville was arrested in Smith County for forgery Wednesday, January 21.

According to a report from Macon County Sheriff's Detective Mark Gammons, Myers was arrested in Smith County on forgery charges stemming from approximately $654 worth of stolen checks written at Lafayette Walmart.

On January 23, Detective Gammons received a call from Smith County stating that they had Myers in custody. He then reported to Smith County that Myers was wanted in Macon County. Myers is charged with forgery over $500 and passing a forged instrument. He is scheduled to appear in General Sessions February 11. He remains lodged at Macon County Justice Center.
