Delton J. Smalling, 79, of Lafayette, TN, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, Tennessee. The Franklin, Kentucky native born Sunday, August 3, 1924, a son of the late Moody Smalling and Nolie Carver Smalling, and was a retired dozer operator.

He is survived by his wife, Ada Casteel Smalling, Lafayette, TN; 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Wilma and Raymond Jones, Westmoreland, TN; Deborah and Richard Carter, Bethpage, TN; and Patricia Carr, Hartsville, TN; 4 sons and a daughter-in-law, Delbert Smalling, James and Linda Smalling, and David Lee Smalling, all of Lafayette, TN; Junior Lee Smalling, Westmoreland, TN; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Ervin Smalling, and a sister, Myrtle Kendall.

Funeral services for Delton J. Smalling were conducted Thursday, December 18, 2003 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Wix officiating. Burial will be in Shrum Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Russell Duffer, Ryan Jones, Charles Carr, Chris Carr, Brett Simon, and Brandon Bonner.
