Samuel L. Shrum, 71, a resident of Comprehensive Care Center in Hartsville, TN, and formerly of Lafayette,TN, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin. The Macon County, TN native was born Sunday, Jan. 24, 1932, a son of the late Mitchell Shrum and Hassie Scurlock Shrum. He was a retired farmer and member of Sycamore Valley Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Lois Shrum; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce Kay and Wayne Gass, Shelvy Jean and Ronald Gass; a son, Harold Dean Shrum, all of Lafayette; two sisters, Ruth McDuffee and Naomi McMillian, both of the Haysville Community; two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, all of Lafayette.

Graveside services for Samuel L. Shrum were conducted Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, 2:30 p.m. at Drury Cemetery with Elder Jody McIntyre officiating.

Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN was in charge of arrangements.
