On November 8th, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Sgt. Tim Perry and Officer Keith Tillman, of the Lafayette Police Department, answered a complaint regarding a possible burglary at B. D. Polston & Sons Building Supply in Lafayette.

Donny Cothron, a Polston employee, told Sgt. Perry and Officer Tillman that someone had broken into the building during the night. He explained that the rear door to the building was open when he arrived for work on Saturday morning, and the glass on the door had been broken. Officers called in Detective Bryan Satterfield for assistance. Together with Cothron, they searched the building. They discovered the key to the coke machine and approximately $3,000 dollars missing from the cash drawer. Curiously, according to Sgt. Perry, nothing was taken from the coke machine.

The intruder or intruders apparently left the same way they entered, through the rear door. Police Officers were able to remove from the scene several items as evidence, some containing fingerprints. The matter is under investigation, as is a second burglary which was reported to Sgt. Tim Perry by restaurant owner Jose Sarbia Diaz on Monday morning, November 10th, 2003.
