MCHS Tigers defeat fourth-ranked Smith Co.

The MCHS Tigers upset fourth-in-the-state ranked Smith County Owls last Friday night by a score of 21-6. This put the Tigers to a great record of 4-1.

Rushing statistics were led by Josh Hudson with 22 carries for 138 yds.; Jacob Law - 5 carries for 16 yds.; Adam Patterson - 1 carry for 10 yds.; Jacob York carried 1 time for 7 yds. and Adam Shaw had 2 carries for - 5 yds.

In the passing dept., Adam Shaw tried 4, completed 3 for 41 yds, no int.and no TDs; Justin Prock passed once and completed it for 36 yds. for a TD.

Receiving: Kittrell Smith caught one for 16 yds.; Jacob Law caught one for 17 yds. and Jacob York caught 2 for 44 yds. -- one of a TD.

Game offensive yards were 166 yds. rushing, 77 yds. passing for a total of 243 yds. in the 21 - 6 win.

Tackles recorded: Adam Clemons had 7 main, 6 assists for 13 total; Adam Patterson had 7 main, 6 assists for 13 total; Josh Hudgens had 8 main, 5 assists for 13 total; Kevin Centers had 5 main, 5 assists for 10 total and Dale Thaxton had 5 main, 4 assists for a total of 9. Thaxton also intercepted a Smith County pass and returned it 45 yds. and a TD.

Adam Clemons, Jacob Law and Camron Pedigo each had a sack during the evening.

This Friday night, October 3, the Tigers take on the Upperman Bees during homecoming activities. The annual homecoming parade will be held beginning at 12:45 on Friday afternoon, with the night time ceremonies beginning at 6:00.
