Olene E. Shrum, 83, of Lafayette, TN, passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2003 at Westmoreland Care and Rehab in Westmoreland, TN.

The Smith County, TN native was born January 21, 1920, a daughter of the late Thomas Hesson and Hester Hutchens Hesson. She was a homemaker and member of Sycamore Valley Missionary Baptist Church since 1941. On June 6, 1936, she was united in marriage to Norman Shrum, who preceded her in death on October 7, 1999.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Shelby Shrum, Jimmy and Pat Shrum; two daughters and sons-in-law, Julia and Dwight Dyer, Annette and Mike Marshall, all of Lafayette; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pauline and Othell Russell, Lafayette, TN, and Omie Swindle, Hendersonville, TN; 13 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren, and five step-great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Joyce Shrum; three brothers, Harvey Hesson, Lucian Hesson and Allen Hesson; and a sister, Ethel Goad.

Funeral services for Olene E. Shrum were conducted Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, 2 p.m. at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Elder Jerry Shrum and Elder Dwight Dyer officiating. Burial was in Macon County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Dwayne Shrum, Barry Shrum, Chad Marshall, Chris Dyer, Steven Shrum, Mark Shrum, Brian Shrum, Randy Brawner and Ross Brawner.

Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN, was in charge of arrangements.
