According to a report from Macon County Sheriff Chief Deputy Danny Fisher, Heather Jean Ely, age 30, and David Allen Hamilton, age 40, reportedly from Knox County, were attempting to fill prescription narcotics at a local pharmacy. The pharmacist gathered information from the suspects and reported them immediately to the Macon County Sheriff's Department after realizing the prescriptions were forged.
Detective Robin Gregory, Deputy Larry West, Sgt. Mark Gammons, Chief Deputy Fisher, and Macon County Sheriff Joe Ferguson, acting upon information received from the pharmacy, brought the suspects in for questioning after learning they were residing at the Hearthstone Inn in Lafayette.
Further information led authorities to believe that the two were wanted out of Knox County.
Heather Ely was wanted for violation of probation on DUI 2nd offense, failure to pay cost and fine, and assault out of Knox County.
David Allen Hamilton, who was using the name David Ely at the time of arrest, was wanted for violation of parole for attempted aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, assault, prior DUI, and fraud. No charges will be filed by the Macon County Sheriff's Department. The two are being held at the Macon County Justice Center for Knox County.
