suspect still at large
The Macon County Sheriff's Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations is currently conducting an investigation into the stabbing death of Sharon L. Wilder, age 40, which occurred at her home at 255 Red Bud Road just north of Red Boiling Springs.
Gerald Ronald Wilder, age 47, is the leading suspect in this investigation.
According to a report from Macon County Sheriff's Deputy Kimball Hall, a call was reported requesting an officer to a residence on Red Bud Road.
Upon his arrival he found paramedic William Moss and EMT Jackie Dozier in the front yard talking with family members. He stated that he observed Clint Wilder, of the same address, with a large amount of blood on his shirt and on his skin including his arms and face. Deputy Hall also reported that Amanda Wilder, of the same address, was also in the yard.
At that point Deputy Hall, with Red Boiling Springs Officer Doug McDonald and Deputy Grant Malo, entered the residence and observed the body of a female, later identified as Wilder, in the kitchen floor.
Deputy Hall stated that when he first entered the residence he found nothing out of order in the living room or the three bedrooms. He then observed a pool of blood in the kitchen floor about eight to ten inches from the body. He also reported that a broken steak knife about six inches in length was lying close to the kitchen cabinet under the sink. The blade was allegedly lying in front of the refrigerator.
He then stated that he made contact with Macon County Sheriff's Detective Jimmy Hardin and requested his presence at the scene. Hardin arrived on the scene and made contact with Macon County Sheriff Joe Ferguson who advised him to contact the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
The residence was then secured until TBI Agent Russ Winkler arrived on the scene. The TBI is now commanding the investigation.
According to Macon County Sheriff Chief Deputy Danny Fisher the unconfirmed cause of death is multiple stab wounds to the victim's body. She was reportedly deceased when paramedics arrived on the scene.
The MCSD and the TBI are currently looking for Gerald R. Wilder, age 47, for questioning in the death of his wife. He is a white male with blond hair approximately 5'9" and approximately 170lbs. He is believed to be driving a 1993 maroon Chevrolet EuroSport with tag #JWH416.
Anyone with information on Gerald R. Wilder's whereabouts needs to contact the Macon County Sheriff's Department at 615-666-3325 or the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
