The Bowling Green, KY native was born April 24, 1944. She was a member of Lafayette Church of God, an employee of Lafayette Wal-Mart, and a long-time resident of Plainfield, Indiana. She was married on Dec. 23, 1961 to Earl Lee Retherford, who preceded her in death on March 24, 2002.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Kevin Michael; a son and daughter-in-law, Tracy and Billie Retherford, all of the New Harmony Community; her mother, Eva Dean Cole Morgan, Lebanon, TN; two brothers, Gary Morgan and Roger Morgan, both of Lebanon, TN; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Hampton Morgan.
Graveside services for Phyllis Elizabeth Retherford were conducted Tuesday, June 17, 2003, 1:00 p.m. at Gray's Chapel Cemetery near Nancy, KY with Rev. Ronald Michael officiating.
Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN, was in charge of arrangements.
