The Red Boiling Springs Lady Bulldogs claimed their fourth consecutive District 7 A title at home last week and then began to work their way through the bracket.
On their way to the Sectional Play-offs, the RBSHS Lady Dawgs claimed the Region 4A runner-up title.
In the Semi-finals of the region 4A tournament, RBSHS faced off against Watertown. The first inning saw RBSHS and Watertown play neck and neck as the inning ended with a 2-2 score, after Maranda Ray and Sandi Curtis each scored runs.
The game became a defensive duel for the next two innings, until Watertown put two runs on the score board in the top of the fourth.
RBSHS took advantage of their next at bat, scoring 3 runs to go up 5-4 in the game. Scoring fro RBSHS in the third inning were Hope Asberry, Denise Smith, and Dee Smith.
The game lasted for another two innings, but Watertown was unable to make anything happen at the plate.
Leading RBSH in hitting in the game were Sandi Curtis who went 2 for 3, Hope Asberry who went 2 for 3, including a double, and Denise Smith who went 2 for 3.
Dee Smith, playing in the designated hitter position, was credited with a triple in the 4th inning of action.
This win advanced RBSHS to the Region 4A finals where they faced off against Friendship Christian.
RBSHS found themselves down early in the game as Friendship Christians jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the 1st inning. FCS added 2 runs in the second, 1 in the third, and another 2 in the 5th inning of play.
The RBSHS bats were silent in the game, with only Ashley Porter credited with a hit.
The Lady Dawgs lost this game by a final of 10-0.
The loss, while still advancing RBSHS to the Sectional tournament, put them on the road to Chattanooga.
In the RBSHS Sectional play-off game, the Lady Dawgs found themselves playing Boyd Buchanan.
The RBSHS bats were again strangely silent, as Boyd Buchanan jumped out to a 6-0 lead that became the final score.
Getting hits in the game were Sandi Curtis, who went 1 for 3 and Denise Smith who went 1 for 2.
The Lady Dawgs ended the 2003 season with a 15-9 record overall, their fourth consecutive District 7A title, the 4A Regional Runner-up title, and advancement to the Sectional play-offs.
