Several auto burglaries occurred over the weekend on Ellington Drive, Chitwood Drive, Hwy 52 Bypass, Akersville Road, and at Cherry's Trailer Park.

According to a report by Lafayette Lt. Bryan Satterfield, the first burglary, however, was not an auto burglary but a house burglary.

According to a report by Officer Adam Swindle of the Lafayette Police Department, Wayne Davis, of Cherry's Trailer Park, said that a white female came to his house Saturday, April 19, and requested a drink of water. Davis stated that she was the passenger in a vehicle that was occupied by another white female. After Davis retrieved a glass of water for the female and she had left, he realized that $40 in cash was missing from his residence.

Later that same day a report was made to Lafayette Officer Jason Roberts that a purse had been stolen from a 1995 Dodge parked at Hometown Foods.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, April 20, a report was made to Officer Tim Hackett that another purse had been stolen from a 1994 Escort parked at Chitwood Drive.

A third auto report was then made by Macon County Sheriff's Department. A vehicle had been broken into on Akersville Road at the apartments located at the Akersville Road and Williams Road intersection.

The fourth auto burglary, reported by Officer Swindle, involved a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier and occurred on Hwy 52. A purse was also taken from this vehicle.

The purse, belonging to the victim at Hwy 52, was found and retuned to the Lafayette Police Department Sunday, April 20.

A second purse was then located at Sullivan's Pond. This purse belonged to the victim from Akersville Road.

Suspects were then established by the Lafayette Police Department and Detective Jim Hardin with the Macon County Sheriff's Department. The suspects were brought in for questioning.

Toni Price of Lafayette and April Shelton of Lafayette were each charged with 4cts of theft under $500 and 3cts of burglary by Lafayette Lt. Bryan Satterfield. They were also each charged with 1ct of theft under $500 and 1ct theft auto burglary by Macon County Detective Jim Hardin.

They are both scheduled to appear in General Sessions court April 30, at 9 a.m.

Some personal merchandise has been recovered. This case is still under investigation by the Lafayette Police Department and the Macon County Sheriff's Department.
