The Macon County, Tennessee native was born Saturday, May 19, 1917, a daughter of the late Robert Fain Dawes and Margaret Estella Knight Dawes. She was a retired hospital administrator for Smith-Chitwood Hospital, now known as Macon County General Hospital, and was a member of Lafayette First Baptist Church. She was married to the late Proctor Witt Cook, who preceded her in death in 1973.
Funeral services for Louise Dawes Cook were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2003 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Nelson and Rev. Billy Devasher officiating. Burial was in Smith Chapel Cemetery in Red Boiling Springs.
She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and John Smith, Scottsville, KY; and a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Charlotte Dawes, Lafayette, TN; 2 sisters-in-law, Josephine Alexander, Lafayette, TN; and Betty Dawes, Indianapolis, IN; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Orel W. Dawes and Joel C. Dawes, a sister, Opal Dawes, and an infant sister.
