According to a report by Tennessee State Trooper Tracy Donoho, the first accident involved Eugene Porter, age 78, of Lafayette. He was traveling west on State Rt. 261, Galen Road, in a 1994 GMC when he lost control of the vehicle due to slick road conditions. The vehicle traveled off south shoulder of roadway coming to rest in a creek. No injuries were reported.
The second accident also reported by Trooper Donoho occurred at approximately the same time on a different section of the Galen Road.
Margaret West, age 58, of Lafayette, was traveling west, in a 1989 Buick on State Rt. 261. Steve Dixon, age 22, of Lafayette, was traveling east on State Rt. 261, Galen Road, in a 1996 Nissan. West lost control of the vehicle due to slick road conditions and crossed the center line striking Dixon in the east bound lane. No injuries were reported.
Very few people can remember the last time it snowed this late in the year. With temperatures in the 80's this week, has Old Man Winter finally left us?
