According to 7th District Commissioner Jerry Ray, the original speed limit was 40 on one side of the road and 55 on the other for many years. At the request of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the State stepped in and lowered the speed limit to 40 going both directions.
Ray has started a petition at both Willette Grocery stores, to request that the speed limit be changed to 55 going both directions.
He would like to urge all residents who are affected by this change to visit one of the stores and sign the petition. If you would like more information on this petition contact Commissioner Ray at 699-2113.
