A petition to change the speed limit on the old Carthage Road back to 55 was started by residents of Red Boiling Springs.

According to 7th District Commissioner Jerry Ray, the original speed limit was 40 on one side of the road and 55 on the other for many years. At the request of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the State stepped in and lowered the speed limit to 40 going both directions.

Ray has started a petition at both Willette Grocery stores, to request that the speed limit be changed to 55 going both directions.
