MCHS graduates Mandy Scruggs and Casey Stinson, both advanced to the state tournament in their individual events during their high school career.
After graduation, Scruggs became a student athlete at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN, and Stinson went to Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, TN.
Now the former teammates, compete against each other.
During the 2003 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, held February 28 - March 1 at Eastern Illinois Lantz Fieldhouse in Charleston, Ill., Scruggs and Stinson faced off in the Women's 20lb weight throw event for their latest head to head competition.
In the Women's 20lb Weight Throw event, Mandy Scruggs, representing APSU, finished the day in 7th place overall, with a distance of 48 feet, 3.25 inches or 14.71 meters.
Casey Stinson, representing TTU, came in 14th place overall with a distance of 37 feet, 11.5 inches or 11.57 meters.
Mandy Scruggs also participated in the Women's Shot Put event. Scruggs finished the Shot Put competition in 10th place overall, with a distance of 38 feet, 7.5 inches or 11.77 meters.
Both of the student athletes turned in the longest throws on their respective teams in the competition.
