Tigerettes take 3rd in District 8AA tournament

The Macon County High School Tigerettes hosted Station Camp during the opening round of the District 8AA tournament.

The Tigerettes easily handled the Station Camp team, winning the game by a final of 77-29 on Monday night.

The Tigerettes were led in scoring in this game by Heather Moore with 14 points and Peewee Troutt with 14 points.

Carrie Oldham added 12 points in the game, with Patricia Carver scoring 11 in the game.

Other Tigerettes scoring in the game included Jocosa Scott with 6, Jody West with 5, Courtney Thomas with 2, Kristen Wix with 2, Chelsea Compton with 2, Tia Troutt with 3, Whitney Thomas with 3, Brandi Sircy with 2 and Britny Bowers with 1 point.

This win advanced the Tigerettes to the semi-final round of the tournament, with a Friday, February 28, 4 p.m. game against Portland game. This game will be played at MCHS.

The Tigerettes dropped a close on one Friday night as the Portland Lady Panthers claimed the win by a final of 33 - 31.

With 57 seconds left in the game, a stolen ball led to a Carrie Oldham shot that tied the game up at 33-33.

Portland sank another jumper to move ahead 35 - 33, which was the final in the game.

Carrie Oldham led the Tigerettes in scoring with 14 points.

The Tigerettes putting points on the scoreboard included, Heather Moore with 12, Jody West with 3, Patricia Carver with 2, and Kristan Wix with 2.

This win put MCHS in the Consolation game on Saturday night in a game with Hume Fogg for third place in the tournament.

MCHS jumped out to an early lead, going up 15 - 6 in the first quarter. The Tigerettes went on to win the game by a final of 61 - 51.

In the game, Heather Moor and Carrie Oldham each tossed in 16 points to lead MCHS to their 3rd place finish.

Other Tigerettes putting points on the scoreboard included Patricia Carve with 10, Jocosa Scott with 12, Courtney Thomas with 3, and Jody West with 4.

The third place finish moved MCHS into the Region 4AA tournament in White County.

The Tigerettes faced off against Livingston Academy in the first round game on Monday night.
