In the regular meeting of the committee as a whole Monday, March 3, commissioners agreed to designate these days to help keep Macon County beautiful.
People from each district will be allowed to take trash to the transfer station at no cost to them on their designated days. The county hopes that by allowing residents to bring the trash, at no fee, it will clean up the reported illegal dumps in Macon County. The days are scheduled for a Saturday to better accommodate the people of Macon County. The transfer station will be open from 8-12 on the designated days.
Districts 5, 9, 11, 12, and 17 will have clean up day March 29. Districts 6, 7, 8, 18, and 19 will have clean up day April 5.
Districts 3, 4, 15, 16, and 20 will have clean up day April 12; and districts 1, 2, 10, 13, and 14 is scheduled for April 26.
Each person will be required to obtain a colored ticket for the correct date to present at the transfer station. Those can be obtained by contacting the Macon County Executive's Office or your commissioner. If a person is unsure of what district they live in they can contact Administrator of Elections, Jack Leath, and he will provide the needed information.

Also on the agenda for the committee meeting was an issue many thought had settled, dis-cussion of the highway department purchase of new equipment.
After receiving a letter from Nashville Tractor & Equipment requesting "a written explanation as to why the bid for a motor grader was not awarded for the New Holland product being the low bidder by $57,808 and the Caterpillar grader was chosen", County Executive Glen H. Donoho, stated the commissioners take another look at the purchase.
A motion was made by Commissioner Jerry Ray and seconded by Commissioner Merlin Driver to cancel the order for the CAT grader and then rebid for a grader in July of 2003. This was at the advice of Donoho.
In other business before the commissioners:
The next scheduled meeting of the Macon County Legislative Body is set for Monday, March 17, at 6 p.m.
