Tigerettes defeat MLK, drop game to Lipscomb

On Monday, the MCHS Tigerettes faced off against district 8AA opponent Martin Luther King.

The Tigerettes jumped out to an early lead, going up 29 - 7 in the first quarter and extending the lead to 45 - 13 by the half. The Tigerettes went on to win the game by a final of 78 - 23.

Heather Moore led the Tigerettes in scoring in this game with 17 points.

Also hitting in double digits were Jocosa Scott with 12, Carrie Oldham with 11, and Patricia Carver with 10.

Also scoring for MCHS were Kristan Wix with 9, Peewee Troutt with 8, Jody West with 6, Courtney Thomas with 3 and Brandi Sircy with 2.

On Friday, February 7, MCHS faced off against district rival David Lispcomb. Lipscomb came out strong, going up 15 - 10 in the first quarter and then going up 27 - 21 by the half.

The third quarter saw MCHS take over scoring, tossing in 19 points to David Lipscomb's 11. This put the score at MCHS 40 - Lipscomb 38.

The fourth quarter told the story as MCHS went into the final minute with a slight lead, before Lipscomb capitalized on a Tigerette mistake to win the game by a final of 58 - 56.

Jocosa Scott and Heather Moore led the Tigerettes in scoring with 15 points each.

Also scoring for the Tigerettes in the game were Carrie Oldham with 14 and Patricia Carver with 12.

This week, MCHS will host Westmoreland on Friday, February 14, in their final home game which will also serve as Senior Night. On Saturday, February 15, the team will travel to David Lipscomb for a rematch and on Tuesday, February 18, MCHS will travel to Hume Fogg.
