A Macon County man was arrested Wednesday, February 5, after local deputies found approximately 8 ounces of marijuana at his residence.

Jonathan Faith Preston, 18, 2273 Hirestown Road, has been charged with felony possession, possession of schedule VI for resale, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released over the weekend on a $15,000 bond.

Macon County Sheriff's Deputy Jeff Brewer said the warrant was obtained after the Sheriff's Department received a confidential, reliable tip that Preston was in possession of a large amount of marijuana at his residence on Hirestown Road. The tip also led deputies to believe that Preston was selling marijuana from the same residence.

Upon executing the search warrant deputies located approximately 8 ounces of marijuana in Preston's bedroom under a couch. The marijuana was packaged in two large bags and two small bags. Also found inside the residence was a metal plate with stems and seeds, a small wooden smoking pipe with residue, metal cigarette roller, 10 yellow in color pills, one pack of rolling papers, one set of postal scales and $60 in cash.

Rebecca Preston and Nick Ahlstand were also questioned in connection with the illegal drugs but refused to make a statement. At press time no charges had been filed against them.

Preston is scheduled to appear in General Sessions court Wednesday, February 12.

Macon County Deputies taking part in the search and subsequent arrest, in addition to Brewer, were Sgt. Mark Gammons, Deputy Troy Griggs, and Deputy Brian Carter.
