A wise man once said, 'Good things come to those who wait.' The wait is almost be over for residents of Heine Lane.
According to County Executive Glen Harold Donoho, Heine Lane, located in the Pleasant Valley community, was promised water four different times by the county and this year he plans to see that they get it.
At the regular monthly meeting of the legislative body, Monday, January 27, Donoho spoke for the residents of Heine Lane. He said that each year, for the past four years, the county applied for a water grant that would provide city water to county residents. Each year Heine Lane was placed on the grant but was cut out when the funding for the grant was cut in half.
Donoho stated, " I would like the body to give me authority to get Heine Lane water. They have been promised four different times and I think they deserve it. I think it will be a wise investment. We can use money from the general fund."
Donoho continued by saying that the money from the general fund would come from the amount generated by the zoning permits.
According to the County Executive's office the 2003 water grant, if approved, would provide water to Old Bottom Road, Chigger Hollow Road, Peytons Creek Road, Swindle Road, Green Valley Road, Barefoot Road, Purtle Road, and a section of 141.
It is important for county residents to know that the grants only provide a way for a resident to purchase a tap to hook onto city water. The estimated amount for a water tap is $600.
