The Macon County, TN native was born August 28, 1918, a son of the late Silas Wesley "Bud" Howser and Lura Attie Fishburn Howser. He was a member and deacon of Miller's Chapel General Baptist Church, a retired farmer, a former committee member and field representative for the A.S.C.S., and a member of Lafayette Lodge #543 F&AM. On Dec. 25, 1937, he was united in marriage to Gladys Linville Howser, who preceded him in death on April 7, 2002.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Wilma and Rev. Harold King, of the Rocky Mound Road; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Doyle Howser of the Wixtown Community; two brothers, Prentis Howser, Indianapolis, IN, and Hugh C. Howser of the New Zion Community; a sister, Lurine Law, of the Williams Community; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by four brothers, Merlin Howser, J.D. Howser, Bascom Howser, and Gerfin Howser.
Funeral services for Odis Howser were conducted Sunday, January 19, 2003, 2:00 p.m., at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Rev. Kimble Willoughby and Rev. Raymond Adcock officiating. Burial was in MIller's Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brandon Owen, Kyle Owen, Jackie Cline, Elder Walter Andrews, Mark Jenkins, Tony Owen and Rev. Billy Freeman, Jr. Lafayette Lodge #543 F&AM conducted masonic services at the funeral home.
Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN, was in charge of arrangements.
