By entering as the top seeded team, the Tigerettes didn't play their first game until Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. when they faced off against Davidson Academy.
MCHS took an early lead in this game, going up 8 - 6 in the first quarter and extending the lead to 18 - 15 by the half.
At the end of the game, MCHS had built a 57 - 32 lead to insure their advancement in the tournament.
Leading the scoring for the Tigerettes in the game was Heather Moore with 12 points, followed by Trisha Carver with 11 points, Carrie Oldham with 10 points.
Other Tigerettes putting points on the scoreboard included Jody West with 9, PeeWee Troutt with 6, Kristan Wix with 5, and Jocosa Scott with 4.
Carrie Oldham was credited withy 10 rebounds in the game, followed by Trisha Carver with 10, and Heather Moore with 4.

This win advanced the team to the championship game on Monday night, December 30, at 6:30 p.m. against Smith County.
The Tigerettes won this game by a final of 46 - 39 to claim the 2002 Nera White Tournament Championship.
