What began in October of 2002 led the Macon County Sheriff's Department on a two week manhunt that ended in the arrest of Timothy David Knight, 40, Galen Road, for aggravated assault, three counts of evading arrest and theft over $5000 Thursday, December 26.

According to Chief Deputy Danny Fisher with the Macon County Sheriff's Department, Knight reportedly was wanted for assault with a weapon on Jessica Reeves in October of 2002.

Knight was also wanted for questioning to his involvement in a stolen trailer belonging to Ralph Beckham of Hartsville in November of 2002. Beckham claimed that if Knight returned the items no charges would be filed.

Due to his failure to return the items, a theft warrant was obtained for Knight.

On December 14, Deputy Kimball Hall attempted to serve the two warrants, theft over $5000 and aggravated assault, on Knight at his parents residence.

Deputy Hall advised Knight of the warrants and attempted to enter the residence. At that time Knight exited the residence through a back door.

Deputy Hall and Sgt. Bennie Hudgens returned to the residence on December 19 to again issue the warrants.

Sgt. Hudgens and Deputy Hall positioned themselves at both exits of the residence and attempted to arrest Knight.

Reportedly, Knight exited the house through a basement window and fled into nearby woods.

Hall and Hudgens were in pursuit of Knight until an unknown shot was fired.

Authorities are still unsure if Knight fired the shot into the air or at an officer.

The deputies on the scene requested backup but were unable to apprehend Knight once backup arrived.

Deputy Hall and Sgt. Hudgens received new information on December 22 that Knight was traveling on Galen Road.

Hall and Hudgens, in pursuit of Knight, followed him to a residence on Morgan Road where Knight abandoned the vehicle and fled to and unknown residence in the area.

The Macon County Sheriff's Department received information that Knight was again at his parents residence on Galen Road on December 26.

According to the report, Macon County Sheriff's deputies surrounded the residence and were able to take Knight into custody.

Knight is being held at the Macon County Justice Center on a $17,500 bond until his court date which is set for January 22.
