After five consecutive losses the Macon County Junior High School Tigers finally pulled out a major upset overly heavily favored Trousdale County.
Macon County got started early as they led 10-4 out of the gate.
They kept the hot shooting going to lead the Yellow Jackets 17 - 12 at the half.
The Tigers had a chance to put the game out of reach, but they couldn't as they missed five free throws during the last minute of play.
The missed free throws did not come back to haunt the Junior Tigers as they had built enough of a lead to hang on. The Tigers won 37 - 30.
The Tigers were led in scoring by Dyron Birdwell with 17 points, including 3 of 6 from three-point range.
Next in scoring for MCJHS was Justin Harp with 8points, Nick Maggart had 4, and Alan Hire and Matt Wilson tossed in 3 each.
Hire and Wilson also led the team in assists with 3 each.
The next regular season game will be against RBS in Red Boiling Springs on January 9, 2003
