Services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home in Kempville. Jack Honeycutt and Comer Meadows officiated and burial with full military honors followed in the Draper Cemetery on Wartrace Creek. In addition to being a farmer, Mr. Draper was the longtime caretaker of the Draper Cemetery.
Born August 21, 1920, in the Wartrace Community of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Fisher and Mallie Dixon Draper.
His wife, Zelema Huffines Draper died July 28, 1978.
Mr. Draper was a member of the Willette Church of Christ and an Army veteran of World War 11 having served from December 2, 1942, until February 11, 1946. He received four medals for service and was in three battles including, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.
Surviving are four sons, David Draper and wife Linda of Wilson, NC; Roger Draper and wife Cynthia of Pleasant Shade; Jr. Draper and wife Diane of Wartrace; Steve Draper and wife Melissa also of Wartrace; two sisters, Bonnie Taylor of Nashville, Stella Tuttle of Bethpage; brother, Robert Draper of Highland; eight grandchildren.
Sanderson of Kempville is in charge of arrangements.
