J.C. York, 75, of 408 Meador Drive, Lafayette, TN, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002 at his residence. The Macon County, TN native was born Sept. 27, 1927, a son of the late Benton York and Heaster King York. He was a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, was a former employee of the Macon County Highway Dept., later was with the Rogers Group, was the owner of J's Grill for the past 20 years, and was the owner of J's Used Furniture. On Sept. 2, 1944, he was united in marriage to Novice Sue Curtis York, who survives.

Survivors besides his wife of over 58 years include a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Johnny Sircy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Clifton and Janice York, Jimmy and Candy York, all of Lafayette; seven grandchildren.

Funeral services for J.C. York were conducted Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, 10 a.m. at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Elder J.C. Austin and Elder Terry Austin officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bob Waldron, J.T. Doss, Red Dixon, Steve Hester, Bernice Jones, Bill Speck, Billy Gregory and Robert Hodges.
