Football is wrapping up their final games of the year and the basketball teams are beginning to get their season underway. In Red Boiling Springs the RBSJHS lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs have completed their first games of the season. On October 24, the RBSJHS teams hosted Carthage Middle School. In the RBSJHS Lady Bulldogs game, the Lady Dawgs defeated the Junior Lady Owls by a final of 48 - 9. Scoring for the lady Bulldogs were Kelly Rich with 25, Kendra Hudson with 10, Rachel Painter with 6, Caylie Dickens with 4, Amber Claywell with 4, Ellie Boles with 2, Ashton Gentry with 2, Lindsay Hume with 2, Tabitha Knight with 2, and Samantha Brockett with 1. Painter had 4 assists in the game. Samantha Brockett and Rachel Painter led the team in rebounds with 4 each. Caylie Dickens grabbed 3 in the game. Painter and Dickens were everywhere the Lady Owls tried to pass in the game. Painter had 8 steals in t game and Dickens had 6. Other Lady Bulldogs credited with stealing the ball were Amber Claywell with 4 and Tabitha Knight with 4. In the boys game, the Carthage Junior Owls defeated the Junior Bulldogs by a final of 37 - 24. Scoring for the Bulldogs were Ben Gentry with 10, Darren Hussey with 4, Tyson Jenkins with 2, Nick Mason with 3, Trey Leonard with 4, and Dustin Dozier with 1. Tyson Jenkins led the team in rebounds, steals and deflections. Jenkins grabbed 10 rebounds in the game, had 4 steals and was credited with 5 deflections. Trey Leonard was credited with 8 rebounds in the game and Nick Mason had 5 deflections. The RBSJHS teams will host Hartsville on Monday, November 4 and will host the 25th RBS Tip-off Classic. The Tip-off Classic will begin on Tuesday, November 5 and continue through Saturday, November 9. See related article for details on the tournament.
