Homecoming ceremonies at end of month

Football seasons seems like it just got underway but both Macon County High School and Red Boiling Springs High School are preparing for their Homecoming ceremonies at the end of this month.

Both teams are scheduled to play their Homecoming game during the last week of September.

Due to Friday, September 27, being declared an Administrative day and students not having to attend, some changes have been made to the Homecoming schedule.

Macon County High School

Since school will be closed on Friday, everything that is planned for Homecoming week is being shifted forward a day.

On Wednesday, September 25, the annual Powder Puff game is scheduled. To allow for church, the game will have an 8 p.m. start time, with the Bonfire scheduled to start immediately after the game.

On Thursday, September 26, MCHS will have the annual parade. The parade will once again start from City Park and follow the traditional route to the square and around town, disbanding behind Piggly Wiggly.

The parade is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.

The Homecoming ceremony will be held prior to the MCHS - Upperman game kick-off. The crowning ceremony is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start, and the game has a 7:30 p.m. kick-off time.

The 2002 Macon County High School Homecoming Court will include Queen - Kara Day; Sweetheart - Leann Ward; Senior Attendant - Shauna Driver; Junior Attendant - Lindey Napier; Sophomore Attendant - Lindsay Shrum; Freshman Attendant - Kim East.

Red Boiling Springs High School

The RBSHS Homecoming parade will be held on Thursday, September 26, beginning at 1 p.m. The parade will begin at RBSHS and make its way down Main Street and through town and back to school, disbanding at RBSHS.

The Homecoming football game will still be held on Friday night, September 27 as RBSHS plays host to Jo Byrns.

Players will be introduced prior to the game, with the announcement of the 2002 RBSHS Homecoming Queen and her crowning being performed at half-time.

The 2002 Red Boiling Springs High School Homecoming Court will include Senior Ashley Porter representing the Math Club, Senior Cherine Dickens representing the Senior class; Senior Denise Smith representing the Senior class; Senior Kasi Shaw representing FCCLA; Junior Krystal Morgan representing the Junior class; Junior Brittni Smith representing Beta Club; Junior Dee Smith representing the Leo Club; Junior Hope Asberry representing the Science Club; Freshman Teresa Salinas representing the Freshman Class and Shalena Gentry representing the Sophomore Class.
