D. Joshua Dickey was pronounced dead on the scene when his motorcycle hit the side of a Nissan Altima late Tuesday night, September 3.

According to a spokesperson from the Tennessee Highway Patrol the accident which occurred near the intersection of Hwy. 31 and Hwy. 231S, involved three vehicles and resulted in one fatality.

Reports indicate that a Nissan Altima driven by Jean R. Dorval, Florida, attempted to make an illegal u-turn and was unable to see the driver of the motorcycle, D. Joshua Dickey, 23, Lafayette.

The cyclist was unable to stop and hit the Nissan in the driver's side, throwing Dickey from the motorcycle.

Dickey came to rest in a field on the right side of the road. The Nissan continued across the roadway and stopped on the southbound shoulder.

A van driven by Leon Brooks, North Carolina, was northbound and hit the cycle that had come to a rest in the road.
