The 2002 Red Boiling Springs High School Golf season is underway.
The week started out for the RBSHS Golf team at Southern Hills Golf Course in Baxter, Tennessee, on Monday, August 12.
The match was a four team competition, with the RBS team finishing the match with 171, followed by Jackson County with 177, Upperman with 191, and Celina with 196.
Leading RBSHS in the match was Mark McClure with 39, followed by Dexter White with 43, Tyler Birdwell with 43, Marcus Hudson with 44, Brandon Clark with 45, Peyton Roark with 46, Curtis Tuck with 47, Sam Jones with 49, and David Carter with 51.
On Tuesday, the team traveled to Hunters Point Golf Course in Lebanon, Tennessee, for a three match with Macon County and Watertown.
Macon County won this competition with 149, followed by RBS with 150, and Watertown with 217.
McClure once again led the RBSHS team, this time shooting a 35, followed by Clark with 36, Birdwell with 38, White with 41, Hudson with 44, and Roark with 44.
On Saturday, August 17, the RBSHS team traveled to Summer Shade, Kentucky, to compete in the Kentucky Hill Invitational Tournament held at the Kentucky Hills Golf Course. The event is an 18 hole competition. This event has the reputation of being the top high school tournament in the state of Kentucky.
The Bulldog team finished 8th in the 16 team competition. Metcalfe County and Glasgow tied with the low score of 307 on the course, with Metcalfe County winning the play-off.
RBSHS shot a 336 on the 18 hole course. RBS Individual scores were as follows: Clark - 79; McClure - 81; White - 83; Hudson - 95, and Birdwell - 100.
Action kicked off last week with a three way match at the Pine Creek Golf Course in Graceville, TN on Monday, August 19.
Macon County won this match with a team score of 157, followed by RBS with a team score of 166 and Friendship Christian with a team score of 167.
Individual scores for the RBSHS golfers were as follows: Clark - 40, McClure - 41, White - 42, Hudson - 43, Birdwell - 50, and Carter - 53.
On Tuesday, August 20, the RBSHS team traveled to Gainesboro, TN, for a four way match at Cumberland Bend. Competing in this event were teams from RBSHS, Macon County, Jackson County, and Celina.
RBSHS took top honors in this event with a team score of 162, followed by Macon County with 165, Jackson County with 170, and Celina with 206.
Individual scorers for RBSHS were the following: Clark - 39; White - 39; McClure - 42; Hudson - 42; Birdwell - 43; Roark - 45; Tuck - 50; Jones - 53; and Carter - 53.
The Red Boiling Springs High School Bulldog Golf record currently stands at 16 - 9.

The RBSHS Golf team would also like to offer their support for Coach Kent Smith who has recently undergone hip replacement surgery.
RBSHS Lady Dawgs Basketball Head Coach Larry White will assume the responsibilities of coach for the remainder of the season.
