Rena Clariday, RBS Council member, sent a letter of resignation to the council at the regular monthly meeting held Thursday, July 11th.

The council will advertise the position to be filled until the election is held in April 2003.

In other business the council agreed to donate $300 to the antique automobile show to be held in RBS.

A $500 donation was made to the RBS Branch Library.

The council discussed the positive attitude of the Willette Community for the new water tower.

The sanitation department is still having a problem paying the landfill bill. According to Mayor Gregory, they are just not picking up enough trash. People are using outside disposal companies for trash pick-up. The council agreed to investigate this matter further.

The city will accept bids on paving jobs. They have approximately $24,000 in the paving fund. This will only allow them to do "patch work" on many of the area roads.

Other business before the council:

  • The fountain at the Palace park is scheduled to be repaired.

  • The new pavilion at the park is ready for public use.

  • Consider resurfacing the tennis and basketball courts

The Red Boiling Springs City Council is scheduled to meet in the next regular meeting Thursday, August 8th.
