A child was located and returned to her mother after a report was made to the Macon County Sheriff's Department of a child wandering alone on Galen Road.
According to the report from the MCSD, and Deputy Kimball Hall, Bruce and Katie Kirby were traveling on Galen Road, Lafayette, when they saw a small girl walking along the road by herself, Monday, June 24.
The Kirbys stopped the car and walked the child to 2027 Galen Road believing she lived there.
The child did not live at this residence so the Kirbys called the Macon County Sheriff's Department.
Deputy Kimball Hall arrived at the Galen Road address and proceeded to look on Bradley Hollow Road. Bradley Hollow Road is a road off of Galen Road.
Deputy Hall found Angela Green, 1479 Bradley Hollow Road, looking for the child.
Green, the mother of the child, reported to Hall that the child was playing in the yard with her two brothers. Green went into the house to check on another child and when Green returned to check the children in the yard, the girl was missing.
Deputy Hall asked Green how the child got away and Green reportedly said "she lost track of time".
At press time this case was still under investigation.
