Girls' Softball Tournament Scheduled for this Saturday

The Coach Pitch division if the Girls' Softball League in Lafayette has scheduled their season ending double-elimination tournament for Saturday, June 22, at the two softball fields located behind Central Elementary School.

Tournament play begins at 8:30 a.m., with sixth seeded McDonald's taking on the third seeded team on the Harvey George Memorial field; and fifth seeded Christine's Day Care squaring off against the fourth seeded team on the smaller field.

Cumberland Bank, the number one seeded team, awaits the winner of the Christine's Day Care- number 4 seeded team's game. This game will be played at 10 a.m. on the smaller field.

The number two seeded team will play the winner of the McDonald's / number three seeded team game on the smaller field at 11:30 a.m.

The second, third and fourth seeded teams will be determined on Tuesday, June 18 as the regular seasons comes to a close.

Vying for those positions are the Roarin' Rebels of C&R Enterprises/Bolton Construction, Macon Bank, Jr. Rockets, and North Central Computer Technologies.

Immediately following the tournament championship game, first and second place team trophies will be presented to the top teams from the tournament and from the regular season; followed by the announcement of the 2002 Coach Pitch League All Star team.

Admission is free for this all day event, so please come out in support of these young ladies.
