B.D. Polston, 88, of Lafayette, TN, died Sunday, June 16, 2002 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette. He was born September 2, 1913, a son of the late Walter Polston and Sweetie Hesson Polston. He was married to Pauline Dillard Polston, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Forrest Polston, and a great-grandson, Caleb Slack.

He was owner and operator of B.D. Polston & Son Builder Supply since 1945. He was past owner of Polston Flooring, Kentucky Flooring, and Polston-Robertson Contractors. He was a former member of Lafayette City Council, past Board Member of Macon Bank & Trust Co., and was instrumental in bringing new industries to Macon County. He was a member of Maple Grove Missionary Baptist Church, a Mason, and a Shriner.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Carl Oldham, Hendersonville; a son and daughter-in-law, Tony and LaRue Polston, Lafayette; four grandchildren, one great-grandson; brother, Arnold Polston, Scottsville, KY.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 19, 2002, 11:00 a.m. at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, with Elder Doug Curtis officiating. Burial was in Anderson Memorial Park. Active pallbearers were Matthew Polston, Brad Oldham, Jimmy Polston, Jim Glover, Charles Darnell, Donnie Cothron, Donnie Coulter and Bobby Shrum. Honorary pallbearers were Roger Dozier, Mark Reece, Lynette Carlisle, Domingo Hernandez, past employees of Polston Builders Supply, Polston Flooring Corp. and Kentucky Flooring Corp., employees of "Lunch Bunch" of Stockyard Cafe, former members of Prock Brothers softball team, Henry Polston, Terry Polston, Glenn Donoho, Edward Sewell, Eugene Cook, Hugh Dixon, Jackie Eller, Tom McCall, Lloyd Driver, Johnnie Brewer, Skip Massey, Paul Kirby, Mike Whittemore, Tim Roark, Larry Tucker, Carlos Smith, Juanita Cherry, Norma Wix, Teresa Holder, and Connie Keene.
