According to a report from Tennessee Highway Patrolman, Bill Pierce, a fatality occurred on Galen Road at approximately 6:30a.m., on Thursday, April 25.

This is the second fatality of 2002 to occur on Macon County roads. The accident occurred at the same place on Galen road where another fatality occurred last year.

Jesse England, 50, Lafayette, driving a 1985 Dodge pickup, was traveling northbound on Galen Road. Bobby Thrasher, Thompkinsville, in a 1986 Ford pickup, was traveling southbound.

Thrasher's vehicle was negotiating a curve when he crossed the centerline and struck England's vehicle head-on in front of Galen School.

Thrasher was unrestrained in the vehicle and did not survive injuries.

England and a passenger were also not wearing seatbelts. They were both transported to MCGH with injuries.
