Frank Buck visits RBS City Council

Guest speaker, Frank Buck, spoke with Red Boiling Springs City Council at their regular monthly meeting April 11th. After introducing himself as the Representative for all of Macon County he discussed issues he felt important including the state income tax.

The council entertained bids for replacing the carpet in City Hall. The motion was made and passed to select Lewis By-Pass carpet of Lafayette to replace the carpet for the amount of $1,100.

The council also discussed bids for a new Central Heat and Air Unit for City Hall. The council voted to accept Birdwell Heating and Cooling from Clay County for the amount of $1,300.

Lori Wright, Macon County Senior Center Director, requested a contribution from the council. She stated that the Senior Center is very helpful to many seniors who may feel lonely. She also extended an invitation to all Council Members to the Senior Center auction at the Sally Wells Building. The Council voted to contribute $500 to the Senior Center.

Other items before the council:

  • Adopt ordnance 02-2

  • Adopt Resolution to congratulate RBS High School Basketball team

  • Voted to increase Ricky Rice's pay raise to $8. He is employed full time with the Utility Department

  • Agreed to put two street lights in the park around the restrooms and basketball goals.

  • Hired Quentin Bates as a volunteer fireman

    The Council also voted to accept the registration of Bruce Brown from the RBS Police Department. Chief Terry Tuck requested that the job opening be advertised. This motion was also passed.

    Red Boiling Springs will meet in their next regular meeting May 9th.
