Five candidates qualify for school board

Five candidates officially qualified to run for the two seats up for election this year on the Macon County School Board, according to information provided by the Macon County Election Commission. Deadline to qualify for these positions was last Thursday, April 4, at noon.

These positions will not be on the ballot until the August County General Election, set to be held on August 1.

The school board seat representing Districts 7, 6, 12, and 19 and the school board seat representing Districts 5, 9, 10, 8 will be the ones up for election in August.

For the position representing Districts 5, 9, 10, and 8, the two individuals who have submitted qualifying papers are (candidates are listed alphabetically) incumbent Wayne Marsh, Benny Meador, and Sabrina Whitaker.

For the position representing Districts 7, 6, 12, and 9, the two individuals who have submitted qualifying papers are (candidates are listed alphabetically) Burton 'Gene' Carter and incumbent Wayne Holland.
