It has been one year since the death of a friend.

Hugh Buddy Woodard, passed away March 23, 2001. He was loved and known by many.

Woodard underwent emergency surgery on his stomach and intestines in February, 2001. The doctors gave him a 50-50 chance of survival. He suffered from this illness for many years.

Woodard had been a School Resource Officer and a Peace Officer since 1976.

He had been with the Macon County Sheriff's Department for six years. He was also a veteran of the Armed Forces receiving a Purple Heart in 1968. He was buried with full military honors.

He is most be remembered by his friends and colleges each day as they pass his face on a memorial erected at the Macon County Sheriff's Department.
