A car struck a tree head on after the brakes failed while going down a steep, curvy hill in Red Boiling Springs on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at approximately 3:37 p.m..
According to the accident report, the 1995 Pontiac Bonneville was traveling South on Hwy 56, Bennett Hill Road, in Red Boiling Springs. When the vehicle was coming down the hill on Bennett Hill Rd. the brakes failed and the driver, April D. Jordan, 37 of RBS, was unable to negotiate the curve at the bottom of the hill and the vehicle left the west side of the roadway striking a tree head on.
Jordan and the passenger, Robert York, 52, of RBS, were pinned in the vehicle and were extricated by the RBS Rescue Squad. They were transported by ambulance to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
The driver was cited for seatbelt violation, financial responsibility violation, and registration law.
