Beta Club officers elected

The Macon County High School Beta Club officers for the 2014-2015 school year were recently elected. Pictured (L to R) are President Marisa Owens, Vice President Leah Anderson, Secretary Andrew Salyer, Historian Logan Horn, and Treasurer Brooklyn McClard. The Beta Club induction ceremony will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 3:00pm in the MCHS auditorium. Everyone is invited to attend.

 

High school seniors apply now for TN Promise free tuition

The Tennessee Promise is a statewide program that allows high school seniors to attend community college free of tuition starting next year. Volunteer State Community College and Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Hartsville (TCAT) are some of the local eligible Tennessee Promise colleges and they are letting high school seniors know that they should apply for the Tennessee Promise now.

Grandparents Day at RBS Elementary

On Friday, September 5th Red Boiling Springs Elementary School’s PTO sponsored Grandparents Day. Grandparents had an opportunity to have breakfast with their grandchild or grandchildren. PTO provided coffee, juice, and donuts for the breakfast. They also could have their picture taken together. Capitol Cash celebrates Grand Re-Opening

Capitol Cash 1, located at 115 Public Square in Lafayette celebrated it’s Grand-Reopening on Friday, September 5, 2014 with a ribbon cutting. Macon County suicide rate in successive years

Based on data provided by the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network the suicide rate for Macon County in 2012, the latest reporting year, was 17.8 per 100,000 people. The Red Boiling Springs City Council met in regular session on September 11, 2014. Mayor Willie Brown conducted the meeting. Red Boiling Springs High School opened its volleyball season against Merroll Hyde on August 21st. Red Boiling Springs Jr. High Volleyball hit its stride last week. The Varsity won two out of three games. The Jr. Varsity won three out of three. They played a home game against Gordonsville on September 8th. The Varsity played first, winning 25-22 and 25-18. The Jr. Varsity followed with a 25-18 and 25-20 victory.
