MCGH volunteers raise funds for Goad family

Macon County General Hospital hosted a cookout last Friday, September 26, 2014 to benefit the Easton Goad family. Baby Easton was diagnosed with liver cancer in August of this year. Hospital employees volunteered and the money raised will be presented to the family this week.

Luci Allen of Lafayette, TN was recently named Reserve Champion in the Market lamb show at the Tennessee State Fair. Luci is a sophomore at Macon County High School where she is involved in 4-H and FFA. Her entry in the Black Face cross lambs weighed 145 lbs. Fatality on New Harmony Road

A 30-year-old Bethpage man is dead from a one-car accident on New Harmony Road that occurred Sunday evening, September 28. According to Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Justin Mote, Antonio Hernandez was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier northbound on New Harmony when he lost control of his vehicle and crossed the center line. A 29-year-old man fled the scene of a one car accident on Oakdale Road on Sunday, September 28. The Macon County Farm Bureau has held “Farm Day” in Macon County since 1996. The event started in Cookeville in 1980. Counties would load up students from various counties to learn about agriculture and farming. Lafayette United Methodist Church’s Youth and advisors met at daybreak on Saturday, September 13 to journey to Pulaski, Tennessee. They joined over 90 other youth and adults for an event called Hands and Feet. Pulaski was one of three sites in the middle Tennessee area chosen to Host the Hands and Feet Event by the Young People’s Ministry of the Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church.
