Tigerettes volleyball advance to sectionals

The MCHS volleyball team hosted the Region 4-AA Tournament Tuesday, October 14 among an energetic crowd. With fans cheering on their feet, the Tigerettes defeated Chattanooga Christian in the semi- final round. The first set Chattanooga Christian won with a score of 25 - 20. The second set, Macon County took control and won 25-19. The third set Macon also won with a score of 25 -21. The fourth and final set sealed the win for the Tigerettes with a score of 25-9.Leading Stats: Jordan Shockley, Brandi Garmon and Kayley Scruggs each had 2 aces. Kristyn Flippin had 18 kills, Kayley Scruggs had 7 blocks, while Jordyn Patterson had 39 assists and Kristyn Flippin had 27 digs.

Local Wakefield Revolutionary War connection to be honored

On Saturday, October 18, at 2:00 P. M., a local connection to the American Revolution will be marked. The Colonel Anthony Bledsoe Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will hold an Official Marking of the Grave of Henry Wakefield. Students from Red Boiling Springs High School Computer Applications classes toured NCTC’s data center in Lafayette on October 3, 2014. On September 27th twenty-one members of Red Boiling Springs Future Business Leaders of America attended their annual Pro Sports Career Day. MCGH following CDC Guidelines for unlikely case of Ebola

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are urging hospitals to prepare for the unlikely event of having to treat a patient with the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD). MCGH is taking this recommendation seriously.The CDC has said only those individuals who have traveled to Liberia, Sierra Leone, or Guinea in the past 21 days or those who have had close contact with a confirmed Ebola case should be concerned about contracting the disease.

Harvest Fellowship Church of God in Red Boiling Springs held a Car, Truck and Rat Rod show on Saturday, October 11. Despite a cold rain that lasted all day, proud owners displayed their entries, talked shop with fellow enthusiasts and enjoyed the collegial atmosphere of the show. Parrish isn’t horsing around

Seven-year-old Emma L. Parrish of Lafayette, started riding horses 3 months ago at her grandma’s house and is already competing against riders that have been doing it for two to three years. The annual open house held by L.B.J. & C.’s Head Start in Lafayette on Tuesday, October 14 was marked by a visit from Clifford, the Big Red Dog. Farley proves it’s never too late for a dream

It’s never too late to realize a dream. Virginia Farley is definitely living proof. The 72-year-old wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother earned her high school diploma in December 2013.Dressed in a smart suit and a bubbly personality, Farley told why she never finished high school, actually she never started. “I was the oldest of six children. When I was in the eighth grade, my mother took me out of school to help raise the others,” Farley said.
