Winding Stairs property land acquisition complete

The City of Lafayette recently completed land acquisition for the future city park location, Winding Stairs. On Thursday, April 10, a land swap was conducted to acquire the final 2.8 acres of land needed for the park. The next day, the city turned in an application for $186,000 of federal grant money to pay for the final development of the beauty spot.City Councilman Roger Russell was part of the core group of individuals who put in hours of time (and saved city taxpayers $8,000 by not paying for a professional grant writer) to develop this project, recruit volunteers, and write the grant.

April South charged with vehicular homicide

April Michelle South was arrested on Thursday, April 10, and charged with vehicular homicide by recklessness. The arrest followed the release of a sealed indictment which was filed on March 26, 2014. The Grand Jurors swore in the indictment that South “did unlawfully and recklessly kill James Richard Chitwood by the operation of an automobile.”This verbage refers to the incident that occurred on May 17 of 2013. 3rd Annual Youth Talent show held

The stars were shining bright as the Lafayette Lions Club held its 3rd annual Youth Talent Show last Saturday, April 12, at the Macon County Jr. High School. A total of 15 various acts were performed for a crowd. Ushers for the evening show included members of the Macon County High School Leo Club and the Community Leo Club. MCHS baseball double header

Weather delay results in Macon County playing host to York at home in doublehearder District games on April 8th. Game 1: Johnny Brown took the mound for the Tigers. After enjoying a week of Spring Break, the Red Boiling Springs Softball Team played two games last week. They lost the first 0-14 against Gordonsville on April 10th and won the second 17-7 against Monterey on April 11th.
