Tigers win in double overtime against Trousdale County

The Macon County Tigers brought the 2014 season in with an enormous bang. They won their first game Friday night against the Trousdale County Yellow Jackets. The Tigers haven't won a game against the Yellow Jackets since 2006 when the score ended with Macon 17 and Trousdale County 16.Macon County won the toss up and elected to receive. Trousdale was the first to put a number on the scoreboard in the first quarter with a touchdown and the extra point kick. However the Tigers didn't let the Jackets stay on the scoreboard alone for long, #11 Tyler Carlisle scored a touchdown and #10 Brandon Noles followed up with an extra point to even out the score.

 

Register of Deeds retires with 32 years

Melinda Ferguson, Macon County’s Register of Deeds for over 30 years, retired from public office on August 29, 2014. Ferguson, surrounded by stacks of bound documents, actually has 32 years experience and said the thing that has changed the most since the eighties is, “The people. A lot of people have moved into Macon County.” She believes it’s because it’s such a wonderful place to live and retire.

Tigerettes soccer team scores win

The MCHS Tigerettes Soccer Team began its regular season with a 6-2 win against the Falcons of Monroe County (KY) on Monday, August 18th. The match is the most complete game that the Tigerettes have put together since their home opener against Jackson County a year ago. TROUSDALE COUNTY – Trade workers, students and others looking for work in construction in the Trousdale County area will be able to explore job opportunities at a job fair on September 4, 2014 at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology. Jones promoted to major in Air Force

Brent N. Jones, a native of Lafayette, TN and 1999 graduate of Macon County High School, was promoted to the rank of Major in the United States Air Force effective September 1, 2014. Major Jones graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He went on to attend law school at Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, where he graduated with a Juris Doctor in 2006.

Four car crash on Days Rd

Four cars were involved in a chain reaction collision on Days Road in Lafayette on Friday afternoon, August 29. “All four drivers were minors,” stated Lafayette Police Officer Stacy Woodard.
