Fifteen representatives of Macon County went to Nashville to compete in the 91st annual Tennessee Association of Fairs convention the weekend of January 19.
The convention featured Fairest of the Fairs pageant, which pitted pageant winners from county fairs all over the state. Macon countians were also represented on the Showcase floor, in several craft and media categories.
Latasha Jones, our Fairest of the Fair, did not take home the trophy this year, but “competed very well,” said Fair Board Treasurer Sally Wells. Of the fifteen items entered into the Showcase, six placed.

Those who attended the fair convention were: Ray and Peggy Goad, Bill and Sally Wells, Steve and Beverly Walker, Marilyn Murphy, Eddy and Wynona Clayborne, Mike and Shawanna Jenkins, Debbie Mason, and Jeff and Debbie Hughes. “We were also honored to have [State Representative] Kelly Kiesling at our table for the dinner and awards presentation,” said Wells.
