Macon Schools welcome sixteen new teachers for the 2012-2013 school year.
Chelsea Robinson
My name is Chelsea Robinson and I am one of the new 5th grade teachers at Lafayette Elementary School. I have lived in Macon County my entire life. I graduated Macon County High School in 2009 with honors. I then attended Middle Tennessee State University where I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in just three years. I graduated Cum Laude with honors in May 2012. I am the daughter of Pam and Ricky Leath. I am engaged to Curtis Workman and we plan to marry in June 2013. I am an active member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where I teach vacation bible school. I am looking forward to beginning my career in Macon County and giving back to the school system that has made such a positive impact on my educational career.
Tara Haehl
My name is Tara Haehl. I will be teaching 5th grade at Lafayette Elementary School. I am a 1995 graduate of Macon County High School. I attended Middle Tennessee State University, where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, K-6. I taught 4th grade, in Smith County, last year at Defeated Elementary School.
I reside in Lafayette with my husband, Dough Haehl, our two sons, Carter and Camden, and step-daughter, Jaden. I’m the daughter of Jerry and Dorthy Shoulders, both of Lafayette. I am looking forward to a new year and working in the Macon County School System with our local youth.
Tucker Smith
My name is Tucker T. Smith. I am the new Physical Education teacher at Central Elementary School. I am also an assistant coach with the MCHS football team. My parents are Roy and Tina Smith of Lafayette, TN. I graduated from Macon County High School in 2007. I played football all four years of high school. I was also an active member of the Beta and Interact Clubs during my last three years of high school. I received an Associates Degree, Magna Cum Laude, in Education from Volunteer State Community College in 2009. I received a Bachelor’s Degree, Magna Cum Laude, in K-12 Education/Exercise Science from Tennessee Technological University in 2012. I was the recipient of the Dr. J.J. Miller Outstanding Student Teacher Award during my last semester at TTU. I have always known I wanted to teach, and I have a sincere desire to positively influence the lives of young people. It is a blessing to have received these positions. I look forward to working with each and every student and teacher in our school system.
Chandra Walker
Hello my name is Chandra Walker, I am the new Speech Therapist at Red Boiling Springs. I graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders. I live in Monroe County Kentucky, where I worked as a teacher’s assistant for two years. I am excited for the opportunity I have been given to work for the Macon County Board of Education. I look forward to meeting my students and watching them grow successfully.
Megan Gaines
Hello everyone! I am Megan Gaines. I am a 2006 graduate of Macon County High School and a 2012 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University where I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Communication Disorders with a minor in psychology. I will be working with Pre-K through 1st grade students in the speech department at Fairlane Elementary. This will be my first year in the Macon County School System. I am overjoyed to be able to work in my hometown and thankful that I can give back to my community while doing what I love. I look forward to working with each and every child and I hope to have a very successful year.
Jacob Smith
I graduated from Lagrange College with a B.A. in Biology. I am assistant football coach at Macon Co. High School. I am married to my lovely wife Jessica and we have a newborn son Jaxon Randall Smith. I am very excited to be a part of the Macon family. WE ARE TIGERS!!!
Jill Barber
My name is Jill Barber. I have been married to Anthony Barber for 22 years. We have 3 children, Brooklynn 18, Micah 13, and Noah 6. Anthony and I are also foster parents and we have 4 foster children as well.
I have lived in Macon County all my life and graduated from Macon County High School in 1991. In 2006 I began working toward my degree and graduated with honors from Cumberland University in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education. For the last three years, while earning my college degree, I worked as an assistant in the CDC classroom. I am very excited to be teaching here in Macon County.
Jeb Tyler Coe
My name is Jeb Coe. I currently reside in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee with my wife, Terin, my son Jesse, and my daughter Emalynn. I graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies. I have taught the previous two years as the 7th and 8th grade Social Studies Teacher at Celina K-8 in Celina, Tennessee. I look forward to a great year at Macon County Junior High as the 7th grade Social Studies Teacher and Jr. High Soccer Coach for the Boys and Girls teams. Go Tigers!
Chris Manus
My name is Chris Manus. Originally from Alpharetta, Georgia, I have live din Carthage, TN for seventeen years. I am married to Cozette West Manus and have two daughters; Hailey 14 and Shelbie 10. We reside in the Tanglewood community of Smith County.
I have seventeen years of experience in the public computer and banking fields prior to becoming an educator. I attended Tennessee Technological University beginning in 2003 for teacher licensure and Masters in Education. I taught three years of Career Technical Education computer courses and middle school social studies at Gordonsville High School, one year of CTE courses at Trousdale County High School, and four years as the computer technician for Trousdale County Schools prior to coming to Macon County High School.
It is my pleasure to have the opportunity to teach Spanish Level 1 at Macon County High School this year. I look forward to an interesting and productive year.
Kimberly Grisham
I live in Defeated with my wonderful husband Nathan. I graduated from Gordonsville High School in 2007 and started attending Tennessee Technological University. In May of this year, I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Education. I am very excited to be teaching English I and English III this semester in Macon County High School, and am very happy to be joining such a great community of people. I am looking forward to a great year!
Ronald Bean
I am originally from Hermitage Springs in Clay County, TN, and in 1989, I graduated from Hermitage Springs High School. I received my BS in biochemistry/microbiology from Tennessee Technological University in 1996, and my MS in Cell and Molecular Biology from MTSU in 2000. I have been married for the past 5 years and have no children.
For the past 5 years, I have taught Research Methodologies and Scientific Communications at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCUMB) and Kansas City, Missouri. While at KCUMB, I was also involved in several cancer immunology research projects. The results from these projects were presented at various national and international conferences, as well as published in various cancer journals. I am proud to be back in my home area and especially at Macon County High School where I will be teaching several Algebra classes.
Cassidy Williams
Hello! My name is Cassidy Williams and I am the new math teacher at Macon County High School. I am married to Eric Williams and we live in Scottsville, KY. I am the daughter of Wyndom Wix (of Lafayette) and Barbie Snider (of Scottsville). I’m a graduate of Allen County—Scottsville High School. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Western Kentucky University.
This year I will be teaching Algebra II, Trigonometry, and Honors Algebra II. I am also the new assistant volleyball coach for the high school girls’ volleyball team. This year promises to be exiting and I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone.
Randall Smith
I graduated from Tennessee Tech University with a BS and an MA in Physical Education. I earned my Ed.S in Supervision and Administration from Lincoln Memorial University. This will be my nineteenth year in education.
I have been married 29 years to my wife Donna and we have three children, Brandy, Jacob and Jarod. We are excited about Macon County and happy to be Tigers.
Kelly Swindle
I will be teaching math this year at Macon County High School. I am a 2002 graduate of MCHS. After graduation, I attended Tennessee Tech University and graduated in 2006 with a degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. I graduated again from Tennessee Tech. University in 2009 with a Master’s degree in Instructional Leadership. Upon graduating, I began my teaching career at Trousdale County High School teaching math and helping coach the volleyball team. After six years at TCHS, I have decided to come back home to MCHS. I am married to Brian Swindle and we have one daughter, Briley. I am excited about the upcoming school year and glad to have the opportunity to teach at my alma mater.
Sondra Underwood
My name is Sondra Underwood and I have lived in Macon County practically all my life. I am married to Michael Underwood and we have two children Rachel and Ryan. We are the typical family; we enjoy camping, sports, church activities, and working in the community. I was a Cosmetologist for several years, but had always wanted to teach. I was fortunate to get the opportunity to work for the Macon County School System. I have been employed with the Macon County School System for seven years. During my first year, I was a CDC assistant at LES. Since then, I have been in the Computer Lab at Central Elementary for the last six years (the kids and parents know me as Mrs. Sondra). After a few years working with students, having children of my own, and enjoying it so much, I decided I was going to pursue my life-long dream of becoming a teacher. I was lucky to have my family’s, friends’, and co-workers’ support. I received my Bachelor of Science, Magna Cum Laude, in Elementary Education from Cumberland University. I feel very blessed to live and work in Macon County. I am looking forward to teaching Kindergarten and having a wonderful year!
Stacey Mims
My name is Stacey Mims, and I am pleased to announce that I have joined the education staff at Red Boiling Springs High School. I am the new Physical Education teacher as well as the new softball coach for the high school. I am the daughter of Bruce Mims of Darden, TN and Susan Mims of Lexington, TN. I am the granddaughter of Prentice Hudson and the late Linda Mims Hudson of Lafayette, Woodrow and Wilma Mims of Arkansas, and John and Karen White of Michigan.
I attended Jackson State Community College on an athletic scholarship my first two years of college. Next, I attended Crichton College on a softball and academic scholarship. Finally, I transferred to the University of Memphis where I graduated magna cum laude with my Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Education in December 2011.
I am very excited about starting my career at Red Boiling Spring’s High School, and I look forward to having a great 2012-2013 school year!
