Citizens Bank held their 12th Annual Veterans’ Breakfast and Patriotic Program on Thursday, November 7 at their main branch.
Droves of local veterans turned out, to eat a large breakfast catered by Linda’s Cakes and Catering, to see old friends, and to honor US armed forces. After an hour and a half of eating and mingling, the program was held in front of the bank. Boyd Mayberry opened the meeting with the playing bagpipes, and then Citizens President Pete Williston welcomed attendees and introduced all special guests. Vietnam Veterans Post #240 performed the Presentation of Colors, and Melanie Bowman of Smith County sang the National Anthem.
Williston then introduced guest speaker Adam Widner, Campus Services Coordinator of the Wounded Warriors Project. Widner spoke of his experience in the armed forces and as a recovering wounded warrior. The meeting was closed with a prayer led by Joe Carter of Citizens Bank.
