Aaron W. Wilkerson of Lafayette was killed late Monday night in a semi crash on Interstate 40. Wilkerson, 45, was asleep in the sleeper compartment of a tractor-trailer when it overturned in the course of the accident, and he was pronounced dead on the scene.
The accident occurred near Knoxville, TN, when a Honda Civic driven by Daniel Coombes of Doswell, VA hydroplaned and struck the left side of the tractor-trailer. The truck, owned by Performance Food Group and driven by Kyle Whitlow, 24, of Westmoreland, lost control and eventually overturned on the driver’s side. Whitlow and Coombes sustained minor injuries.
Funeral services for Aaron Wilkerson will be conducted from the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette on Friday, November 30th at 1:00 PM with Elder Bobby Hale and Elder Don Watts officiating. Interment will follow in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park.
He is survived by: Wife, Barbara Richardson Wilkerson, of the Kirbytown Community; Step-Daughters, Monica (Joey) Wilkerson of Lafayette, Veronica Miller of the Kirbytown Community; Parents, Charles and Sandra Wilkerson, Brother and Sister-in-law, Charles Elon and Jan Wilkerson, all of the Rocky Mound Community; Grandchildren, Keeleigh Wilkerson and Abigail Berry.
